Have you tried on your swimsuit yet?  If you have and it appears to have shrunk in the wardrobe funny how they do that, isn’t it?), then maybe it’s time to start thinking of getting in shape for summer. The good thing about dieting at this time of year is a) Salad feels better in summer than winter and b) you have a defined goal – looking great in your swimsuit, or more probably not looking awful in it.

This may sound harsh, but in hypnotherapy we talk about goals being either ‘towards’ or ‘away from’ AKA carrot and stick. So towards might be: ‘I want to look great’ whereas  away from is: ‘I don’t want to embarrass myself on the beach’.  Some people are more away from, others more towards, but in the main, when it comes to weight loss, it’s ‘away from’ that tends to be more effective.

How do you apply this? Get an image in your mind of how you don’t want to look on the beach this summer and concentrate. If you want an even more effective, but a bit cruel, motivator, find a picture of yourself looking not so good and pin this where you can see it. Awful but effective!
